 A record-breaking number of trade visitors was counted at Cinte Techtextil China held in Shanghai from 1 – 3 September at INTEX. The heavy rain did not dampen visitors’ enthusiasm, and 6,515 trade buyers from 52 countries and regions visited the show; a 25 percent increase in attendance from last event in 2002. Whilst most visitors were from mainland China (5,357), 1,158 came from 51 overseas countries and regions: 131 from Korea, 128 from Taiwan, 123 from Hong Kong, 107 from Japan, 86 from the USA and 77 from Thailand. The trade visitors met with 300 exhibitors representing 18 countries and regions, an increase of 40 percent compared to the previous event. National pavilions from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and UK confirmed the importance of the Chinese market and this show as its door-opener. The Cinte Techtextil China symposium ran from 31 August to 2 September offering a key source of industry knowledge to exhibitors and visitors alike. Speakers from around the world gave in-depth presentations on the latest industry news especially focusing on the main application areas including; Buildtech, Agrotech, Mobiltech, Medtech and Protech. The general mood of the show was very enthusiastic following the rapid expansion of China’s technical textiles and nonwovens industry. Feedback from the exhibitors was very positive, with many companies commenting on the increase in the number as well as the improvement in quality of the visitors on-site.
