 Lowell BivensJochen Boos, Managing Director of Polyamide High Performance GmbH, announced today that Lowell Bivens (53) has been appointed President and CEO of Polyamide High Performance, Inc. , in Scottsboro, Alabama. Lowell Bivens succeeds Carlos Serrano who was killed July 29th in a traffic accident when struck by an automobile while riding his bicycle. Lowell Bivens is currently President of Diolen Germany, Inc., and has been a Scottsboro resident for the past 15 years. He has more than 30 years experience in the industrial fiber industry within the various companies of Akzo Nobel and Acordis. | Polyamide High Performance (PHP) has signed contracts to takeover the business activities of Diolen Industrial Fibers GmbH, Obernburg, Unterfranken/Germany The business activities of Diolen Industrial Fibers GmbH – which went into insolvency proceedings in autumn 2008 – will be transferred into the PHP organization on March, 1st, 2009. | You are well aware about the unprecedented situation at the crude oil and natural gas markets resulting in a double digit escalation of prices. Over the first two quarters and especially within the last weeks this led to dramatic cost increases of all of our raw materials. Moreover, driven by these factors also energy, packaging and transportation costs have shown significant increases.    On August 16th the cornerstone ceremony for the plant of ShenMa-PHP (Pingdingshan) Air Bag Yarn Manufacturing Co., Ltd., has taken place in Pingdingshan. First production of Enka® Nylon Airbag Yarns made in China with German know-how – based on one of our joint ventures with China Shenma – is scheduled to start in autumn 2007 if all construction phases are running smoothly. This first event completely fulfilled all expectations – in fact, when it came to exhibitor numbers, it even exceeded them. Techtextil Rossija was held for the first time, as a joint venture between Messe Frankfurt RUS and JSC Textilexpo, at the VVC All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow. "Our main aim in holding Techtextil Rossija has been to offer a new international marketing and communication platform for suppliers and users of technical textiles here in Russia", said Hubert Demmler, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt RUS, a subsidiary of Messe Frankfurt. With this excellent breaking force Enka® Nylon 142HRT is best suitable for all end-uses which require super high-tenacity, e.g. reinforcing fabrics and cords for MRG (Mechanical Rubber Goods) applications – such as air springs, hoses and transmission belts – and in particular for tire reinforcement. ► Ask for sample bobbins or further information!  Christo during the planning periode of “The Umbrellas” (Photo by Wolfgang Volz) After the “The Umbrellas” which have been realized in October 1991 at the same time in California with yellow umbrellas and in Japan with blue umbrellas the new project “The Gates” will be the second time that Enka® Nylon – our high-tenacity polyamide yarns – is the material chosen by Christo for producing the fabrics of his 2005 artwork in New York. More than 98,000 sqm Enka® Nylon fabrics were necessary to produce the 7,500 saffron-coloured fabric curtains which will hang down from gates of nearly 5 m height with different widths with a distance of 2.13 m to the ground arised on a length of 37 km of the park paths– free to move in the wind of the Cenral Park. Dying of the Enka® Nylon yarns have been done by WGF COLCOTON-Garn Hasenack & Co., Wuppertal (Germany). ► www.wgf-colcoton.com Fabrics have been woven by J. Schilgen GmbH & Co. in Emsdetten (Germany), who already have been the weavers of the fabrics for the wrapping of the Berlin Reichstag (1995). ► www.schilgen.de. The start of this artwork action is scheduled for Saturday, the 12th February 2005, by opening the wrapping of the curtains and letting them all down at the same time from top of the gates. For 16 days the curtains will give the impression of a golden river floating through New York’s Central Park. By the way, the special surface properties of Enka® Nylon fabrics will change the basic colour of the curtains optical in a spectrum from saffron to dark red shades though the various incidents of light during a day in such a big city like New York .  PHP– Airbag Yarns was represented at airbag 2004, the 7th International Symposium and Exhibition on Sophisticated Car Occupant Safety System, organized by Fraunhofer ICT with the paper "Different Polymers for Airbag Cushion Materials – An Evaluation of Static, Dynamical and Thermal Properties" presented by Ralf Koehnen, Technical Marketing and Development Manager for Airbag Yarns, (PDF file download see below) at the second day of the symposium and a booth at the accompanied exhibition. It has been the fifth time that Enka® Nylon airbag yarns had a booth at the event which takes place in a two years periode since 1992. | PHP and China Shenma Group Co., Ltd., (Pingdingshan, Henan/China) have reached an agreement to join forces to produce and market Enka® Nylon airbag yarns for the strong growing Asian airbag market. To meet this demand, already in 2005 high-tenacity polyamide 6.6 airbag yarns will be produced under PHP license by CSM and marketed exclusively by PHP under the worldwide known brand name Enka® Nylon. | PHP about to increase the price of Polyamide (PA) 6.6 Enka® Nylon Airbag Yarns – sustained increases in the cost of raw materials force PHP to put up the prices of PA 6.6 Enka® Nylon Airbag Yarns considerably Numerous publications in the daily press report that sustained increases in the prices of oil and benzene have caused the cost of polyamide products to go up considerably. Thus, for instance, the price of benzene has soared by more than 150% since the beginning of this year, reaching a new record high. Among the causes named for the development of prices on the raw-material market we find the economic boom in Asia and particularly in China, which has caused the supply situation to become tense in a number of sectors. What is remarkable is the fact that benzene prices have meanwhile abandoned their former close links with the prices of crude oil, and can no longer be expected to come down from their present peak even if crude-oil prices should decline again in the medium term. For these reasons, PHP feels constrained to pass on the increases in its production cost to its customers, meaning that the price of PA 6.6 Enka® Nylon Airbag Yarns will go up by about 11% on October 1, 2004. ► See corresponding Press Release dd. 10.09.2004 |
