| High-performance PET Yarns for Industrial Broad Fabrics |
The term industrial broad fabrics covers an extremely wide and diverse range of applications. Typical examples of this fast-growing market segment include textile constructions, sailcloth, geotextiles, tarpaulins, roofing membranes, billboards and reinforcement fabrics for high-performance filters. These fabrics – coated or uncoated – may be woven, warp-knitted or produced by means of “laid scrims”. Polyester-HP manufactures a wide range of high-tenacity polyester yarns for these demanding end-uses under the brand name Diolen® . Furthermore the new developed, proprietary PPS-based multifilament yarn for broad fabrics – Diofort® – has increased the product range of Polyester-HP. This yarn combines high strength with the best application properties of polyphenylene sulphide (excellent chemical and heat resistance and flame retardance).
Fiber cleanliness, uniformity and high efficiency during processing – all key factors for an optimum price/performance ratio – are essential characteristics of the Diolen® polyester yarns used in the making of industrial broad fabrics. The same is true for high strength and dimensional stability. For textile constructions, tents, billboards and sailcloth, an excellent optical quality and translucency are of paramount importance. Ultra-low shrinkage – a major feature of Diolen® 170ST and the Diolen® 174 product family – is crucial for those fabrics processed at higher temperatures.
Finding the perfect fiber for the perfect fabric: Polyester-HP is the European market leader in polyester yarns for broad fabrics, with more than four decades of experience in making high-quality and cost-effective yarns. In fact, the Diolen® 164 and Diolen® 174 families of yarns are seen by the industry as the benchmark in processibility, due to their low, uniform shrinkage and fiber cleanliness. Diolen® 170ST – manufactured according to our own proprietary machine processes – has meanwhile proven to have the potential to become the benchmark for one-step, low-shrinkage yarns. Alongside this new and cost-effective process, Polyester-HP remains committed to the continuing production of two-step products, which offer features that make them the perfect choice for a wide variety of demanding end uses. In addition, our newly developed and patented PPS-based Diofort® yarn further completes our range of products enabling customers to find the optimal solution for their specific requirements. At the same time, we continue to support the “evergreens” of our broad product range by continuous quality improvement, by granting priority to technical services, by knowing what the customer is doing and by fine-tuning our products and processes to his needs.
As part of our “local-to-local” approach to cooperating with our customers, we strive to be a good and flexible partner in the co-development of tailor-made yarns based on feedback from the market itself. So that we can learn from our customers, and so that they will find a partner willing and able to cooperate in finding solutions for the challenges with which they are faced. | |
